We had a small cookout today. We had a fire going and it was sunny but I still had to wear a warm fleece hoodie and sweatshirt underneath as it was only in the 40's today. I had the dog's all wearing assorted little coats. It was fun seeing them run around in the different colors. Lucky was wearing a jean jacket,Cissy had on a pink sweater,Pippy was in a light green fleece, and Minnie wore a blue sweatshirt type jacket. This weekend I bought on sale 4 hooded sweatshirts for the boys. My hubby put plastic on some of the windows today. Walgreen's has an impressive month long list of register reward deals that I stocked up on. I really like the new Vaseline sheer infusion. It comes in different flavors and I bought all of them. It really works well. I got 4 Sunday papers to clip coupons out of. I think this is what I will get on a regular basis and if there are really great coupons I will get 7 or 8. Do you need to find a blog with links for a lot of good coupons? Go to helpingthebudgetusingcoupons.blogspot.com her blog is titled "Mrs Buys More Mr Saves Alot" and I have found it to be very helpful.

My Shopping Today
I went to Copps Food Center to get the six cans of Chef Boyardee ravioli for $1.00 each Free! with six coupons that I had for 1.00 off of one can. I printed those off the internet. I also purchased four Colgate toothpaste for $.88 cents and used two 1.00 off and two .75 cents off coupons I got from the Sunday papers. I also had a coupon from All You magazine August issue that was for one free can of Manwich if you bought two cans. They were on sale for $1.00 each this week. I bought two Breyer's yogurt for .66 cents each. I had a 1.00 off coupon I printed off coupons.com so I only paid .32 cents for two! I also bought four Roundy's yogurt for .55 cents each, one was .45 cents because it was a light yogurt, darn I should of caught that price. But anyways I used the .75 cent off coupon if you buy four of any type of yogurt on those so I only paid $1.35 for four. I bought the limit of four Roma Pepperoni and Sausage pizza for $1.33 each for the boys as they love that for lunch. I used the Copps flyer coupons for a loaf of bread for .67 cents,it was a dumb limit of one. Geesh! I have three guys to feed so one loaf is gone fast. Hubby did his own smart shopping this morning over at Kwik Trip. He got three loaves of bread and two packages of twelve doughnuts each for $5.99. The bread is cheaper than Aldi's brand which is .79 cents now. My youngest son Bryan finished his own deal of buy 4 shirts at PacSun and get the fifth free. They gave him a card to get punched so he didn't have to buy all the shirts at once. I was very proud of him as he used his own work money to do the deal.

Coupon Craziness Has Hit!
I never thought I would break out of the awesome deals I find at Aldi's food store but I got hooked on couponing. It was easy with sites like Deal Seeking Mom, Couponing 101,Hot Coupon World,A Full Cup,Slick Deals,Grocery Smarts,Bargain Briana,Hip 2 Save,Mister Deals, and I Heart Wags and I Heart CVS. I am slowly getting a stockpile that my husband says is impressive in the short time that I started with. I love getting the deals, don't have to do all the work these men and women do on their sites finding the deals for me either. I just have to print off internet coupons, buy Sunday papers and get my families coupons they don't want and organize them to go get the deals. I work full-time and have pets that take up some after work time, supper to cook, and home to clean and still I can watch tv,play on the internet and still save money so you can too. I am happier too because I know that it would not be possible without me finding these awesome sites. I don't have to spend much money either. I hope all small and large food manufacturers will keep giving the public awesome coupons because we are listening and want to buy your product.

Learning to be a Pet Grandma
My dog Cissy, my littlest Shih Tzu had her one pup on March 1st. My husband says it looks like a little cow because she is white with a black head and a black spot on her back. She is a tiny little pup, that looked like a baby mouse when she was born on my bed. Yes, Cissy was scared to leave us and naturally since she sleeps with us she wanted to be on the bed panting away. So I put a towel under her and fell asleep for a couple of hours until I heard a squeak. I hurried and turned the light on after reaching down and getting my hand wet. I knelt and looked on in awe for a bit as I watched Cissy turn into a Mama. Then I carefully lifted her and baby and brought her to the pen we had set up for her. Now it is day 11 and baby pup has not opened her eyes yet. She is tubby with squatty little legs. Her face around her eyes has lightened up a little to a yellowish color but she is still black there too. Hubby got the pup baby cereal already but it is too early for that so I have been giving Cissy a bowl of it every morning. She has been very protective and told all the other pets that this is hers and back off. She does not growl at me or nip or anything as she trusts me completely with her. I am a new pet grandma and have never raised a pup before. I have learned everything from the internet. Hubby had a golden retriever that had puppies so he kind of knows but he was a teenager and really didn't raise them, his parents did. I know it is going to be a lot of work changing papers and bedding. I went last weekend and got all pets new chew toys and the pup two new stuffed animals to sleep with, I read that they like that. I will post pics this weekend.

Zippety Doo Da, Zippety Aye!
http://www.annebradshaw.blogspot.com
I am excited about a few books that are written about a subject that has always fascinated me. Angels, heaven, souls coming to earth, the afterlife, near death experiences, are these things that you would like to read about? Well the blog "Not Entirely British" has invited author "Sarah Hinze" to her blog. She has been kind enough to offer in the contest a copy of each of her two books and a CD recording of a show she did on public radio. The books are "We Lived in Heaven" and "Songs of the Morning Stars".
On family life today I cleaned the house. I got Zeke my German Shepard a bath, went to Wal-Mart and got the dogs some new toys and dog treats that I found for a buck a bag. I also used my coupon I got from Suave for a free bottle of shampoo and I got the $3.00 dollar one! Yippee! Did anyone else notice that the 50lb. bag of dog food is now 40lbs. and for almost the same price the 50lb. one was. What a rip off! I really needed that extra 10lbs. to make it thru the budget I had made. My little dog Cissy is going to be a Mama and I can really feel the baby or babies move on her belly. She is so loving right now.
more soon: off to get me an ice cream bar!

It's A New Day
http://www.annebradshaw.blogspot.com
Just got word of another great book contest at "Not Entirely British" It runs until the 25th of Feb. and the winner gets a copy of award winning author Josi S.Kilpack's latest book "Lemon Tart". The book is the first in a culinary mystery series. The author lives in Utah with her four kids. I had a son in Utah, my first born was born in Tooele,Utah. I know in some parts of Utah you can have horses and farm animals if it was there to begin with, so in major parts of Lehi you can see horses as you cruise down the highway, its crazy but nice. I remember when we visited last and we strolled down the sidewalks and there were roosters and chickens running around in people's yards. My step-Mom lives there and instead of bars on every corner like here in Wisconsin there is a pretty church with a white steeple on every corner it seems.

A Few Thoughts
http://www.annebradshaw.blogspot.com
I went to Facebook tonight and saw a book contest that I thought I would share as the book would be helpful no matter what age you are because we all are parents, grandparents, about to be a parent or know all of the above and could give this book to them. It's called "Soft-Spoken Parenting" and is written by Dr.Wallace Goddard. I did have to blog about the book to try and win it but if I don't I will get the book for my friend at work. He adopted recently and as a friend I know he loves to read and has said he wanted to learn to be the best parent he can be for his little girl. I ask you to check out the link to Not Entirely British's blog and see for yourself.
On other things I recently celebrated my birthday. It was Monday and almost a full moon that night. I turned 45. I had red roses from my hubby! Last week was painful as I had an injection in my piriformis muscle which is up by my si joint. The doctor had to keep taking one needle out and numbing me with another needle because I could still feel it bad. She told me I was the first patient she had that had almost broke her needle as my muscle was so tight and hard. Yup I got buns of steel! lol. Anyways, after I went home I had about 4 painful days of recovery. I am on a new medicine since we found this out, I hope it works well. My job is fine with me having to go to therapy and all the appts. recently. I am lucky to have that and a supportive family. The kids did dishes and hubby did laundry while I was stiff ,I feel blessed and am feeling the love tonight.

Grounded on Ground Hog's Day
Yes I am gonna stay home on Ground Hog's Day. I am trying to get out of debt so I am doing things myself here on the home front. I am clipping more coupons, shopping at Aldi's as it has the cheapest prices on the basics. My husband painted our bathroom and made some shelves himself. I will also make some curtains myself too. I make homemade dog clothes for the Shih Zu's because I refuse to pay $10.00 for a little shirt. I re-use my butter container's for leftovers and coffee containers go into my hubby's shop for all his knick-knacks. I give my dog's leftovers that are healthy for them so they don't eat as much dry food which has gotten way to expensive if you ask me. I hate the way they keep making items smaller but charging us the same price. I try to get the little freebies from the freebie sites and I do enter contests as you never know, someday maybe I will get lucky and win! I must be a little tired of snow as I was out chopping up ice on the driveway like a mad woman today, it was sunny and warm today...a balmy 35.

A Friend's Story
I had some shocking news today from my girlfriend of many years. Her husband had already gone through one brain tumor and had recovered from this so well. Today I found out he got another one and is in a nursing home unable to walk or eat or talk yet. We hadn't talked to each other for quite some time so I talked to her and I hope I kinda made her feel better. We will see Tom when my husband and I are off on Thursday. When you hear this kind of stuff it all sounds unreal like news that only happens in the movies but this is real life and I know someone that is having a rough deal on life. Tom is not much older than us, his wife is almost ten years older than him so she always told Tom jokingly "you'll be taking care of me" and yet no the tables are turned and she will be taking care of him. He may never walk or he could improve,I guess time will tell. Tom's first tumor was a case of him getting vertigo and he went first to the eye doctor. He then went to a doctor who found it in his brain. They have a trailer home which has a ramp from her Mom that had owned it before they bought it from her so she could go to assisted living. The trailer does have the modifications already done so that is one expense she won't have if he can ever come home. It is a sad kind of shock to us both. There is always someone worse off as they so often say.
